Billionaire WeatherTech Founder Lists Newly Built Florida Mansion for $36 Million—Months After Buying $95 Million Manalapan Marvel

Billionaire WeatherTech founder David F. MacNeil has put his newly built Fort Lauderdale mansion on the market for $35.99 million—just months after his headline-grabbing purchase of an enormous Manalapan property that was on the market for $95 million.

According to records, MacNeil, 66, managed to snag quite the discount on his Manalapan home, with the latest sale price listed at just $55.5 million.

However, reports suggest that he is planning to pour millions more into the property, which was newly built when he bought it. Instead of soaking up all of the newly constructed luxury on offer inside the home, MacNeil—who already owned a home next door—was preparing to raze it to the ground, according to its seller and creator, Joe Farrell.

Now, it seems the businessman is hoping to raise some funds to funnel into that project by offloading his 10,289-square-foot waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale.

To that end, he has slashed the asking price for the home, which was originally listed last year with a different brokerage firm for the much higher sum of $47.5 million.

The property failed to achieve such a lofty ask—but listing agent Chad Carroll of Compass believes it stands a much better chance of finding a buyer with the decreased ask.

“We believe it is now priced properly to sell,” Carroll said. “It’s a fantastic property in a very sought-after location.”

In addition to its 100 feet of shoreline, the stunning estate features many jaw-dropping amenities, including a floating infinity-edge pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

“What makes this property really special is the second floor, suspended pool that overlooks the beach,” Carroll noted. “It’s also located on a premium double lot with three levels of luxury living and a private rooftop deck.”

Inside, an open floor plan is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling walls of glass to soak in the scenery from nearly every room in the house.

No expense was spared on the design of the home, which features many opulent details, including globally sourced stone, bespoke millwork, sculptural lighting, and a floating staircase that offers incredible views of the land below.

“As you are walking up the stairs, it’s very dramatic and takes your breath away as you overlook the ocean and pool,” he said.

Designed for grand-scale entertaining, a gourmet chef’s kitchen has dual refrigerators, sinks, and ovens. A nearby covered patio has a summer kitchen that overlooks the ocean.

“The primary suite is also very impressive as it spans the entire north side of the property,” Carroll added. “It has a spa-inspired bathroom and a covered terrace that overlooks the ocean.”

Other highlights include a glass-encased wine cellar, a private office overlooking the pool and ocean, and multiple lounges designed for relaxing and hosting.

A “showstopping” rooftop terrace features a fireplace and unobstructed oceanfront views.

“The floor plan is conducive for entertaining and the home is ideal for someone who embraces the beachfront lifestyle,” he said. “I think it will be used as a primary residence given the functionality of the floor plan.”

Now that it is “priced to sell,” Carroll also believes “it will sell pretty quickly. It is a prime Fort Lauderdale beach location, located minutes away from the restaurants, shops, and marina, and has a private beach.”
