Gymnast Simone Biles and her NFL player husband, Jonathan Owens, wasted no time in christening their newly built Texas mansion with a romantic photoshoot—shared just hours after they revealed that the property had finally been completed.
Biles, 28, and Owens, 30, spent more than five years bringing their vision for a perfect marital abode to life, having started planning the design of the lakefront property in 2020, four years after the Olympian claimed her first gold medal.
However, the process would prove much more arduous than either of them had anticipated—and it wasn’t until two years after those plans were drawn up that they even broke ground on the project.
Finally, after three years of construction, work on the opulent dwelling finally finished and the happy couple officially received the keys to their new dream home on Nov. 11 of this year, a moment that Biles was quick to celebrate with fans on her social media account.
One of the post shared to mark the milestone occasion was a series of black-and-white images that she and Owens posed for in their new home, including two photos that feature the two athletes feeding each other pizza inside their custom kitchen.
The couple is dressed casually and went barefoot for the sweet snaps, in which their extravagant black-and-white themed kitchen space features prominently, complete with modern lighting fixtures and stunning marble countertops.
Another of the pictures, which were all taken by Houston-based photographer Rachel Taylor of RaeTay Photography, showed the happy couple perched at the center of the his-and-hers sinks in their primary bathroom.
For this snap, they changed up their looks, with Biles slipping into a slinky dress and heels, while Owens is seen sporting plaid pants, a black button-down, and shiny black loafers.
“The house we built,” Biles captioned the trio of images, before adding a heart emoji.
The photos were posted on the same day that the former Olympian shared the happy news of her home’s completion, revealing in a series of Instagram Stories posts that work on the home had finally come to an end.
In the three years since construction began, former Olympian Biles has shared regular updates on the process, beginning when the frame of the property was first erected, a milestone moment that marked only the start of a yearslong wait for the husband and wife duo.
But on Nov. 12, Biles shared perhaps the most important update of all—proudly announcing to the world that she now has the “keys in hand,” having “finally closed” on the impress property.
The athlete went on to share a glimpse at some of the more lavish elements inside the dwelling, including a beautiful kitchen, complete with custom black-and-white marble countertops and backsplash, two huge islands, and elegant brass fixtures.
The gymnastics legend happily posed inside the completed space, perching atop one of the counters with her arms up in the air in a sign of celebration, as she joked in the caption that she needed to “insert Jonathan,” who does not appear to have been present during the visit to the home.
Another photo taken inside the kitchen showed Biles’ beloved French bulldog standing on the beautiful wooden floors in the space.
But perhaps the room that Biles is most excited about is the couple’s laundry room, where she revealed they have installed two sets of washing machines and dryers, so that she and Owens can do their laundry at the same time without hogging the appliances.
“Since Jonathan always wants to do laundry the exact same day as me,” Biles wrote in the caption. “Now [there is] one set for each of us.”
Among the home’s other very unique amenities is a custom-built room for the couple’s dogs, which Biles revealed she decked out in the same black-and-white tile that they used on their lakefront swimming pool.
The space features a special pet spa area, as well as a built-in area for the dogs’ bowls, which was already being put to use by the gymnast.
In addition to the photos of her completed home, Biles also shared some insights into the complex process that went in to building their dream home, revealing the lengthy timeline that led to the completion of the property.
“Home building requires a lot of patience,” she wrote, while sharing a video of herself and Owens that was taken when only the framework of the home had been built.
“Started the design process in 2020 and took a year to complete,” she said of the first step they took in their homebuilding journey.
“Approvals took a white from [the] HOA; broke ground in Feb 2022; completed 11/11/25,” she added.
Biles’ noted that their wait for their dream home was made all the more painful by the fact that they had been given a much earlier estimated completion date, revealing: “They lied when they said nine months to build!”
Still, the gold medal winner was quick to voice her pride at having finally finished the mansion, writing: “Anyways proud of us. ILYSM @jowens.”
Indeed, much has changed in the couple’s life since they broke ground on their home—with Biles going on to compete in her third Olympics two years after construction began, which some believe may well have been her final Games appearance.
She and Owens also tied the knot during that time, marrying first in an April 2023 courthouse ceremony in Texas, before going on to host a lavish celebration with their loved ones in Mexico the following month.
Owens has also made some major moves in his NFL career. When construction on the property began, he was in his final season with the Houston Texans, before signing with the Green Bay Packers for the 2023 season.
He spent just one year with the Wisconsin-based team, before signing a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears, which is due to end when the 2025 season draws to a close.
It is currently unclear where he plans to head next, with just seven regular season games left for the Bears, who currently have a 43.7% chance of making it to the playoffs, according to an analysis by ESPN.
For the past two years, Biles and Owens have been splitting their time between Texas and Illinois, with the gymnast flying back and forth between their homes in the Lone Star State and their dwelling in Chicago.
In addition to their new custom mansion, the couple also owns another abode in Texas—a Spring, TX, property that Biles purchased in 2020, four years after claiming her first Olympic gold.
That dwelling, which Biles has extensively renovated since moving in five years ago, served as a first marital home for the athlete and her husband, and is where they were understood to be living together while they waited for work on their custom property to be completed.
It is currently unclear whether Biles will take another shot at Olympic glory—having previously revealed to Olympics.com that she has not yet made up her mind about trying out for the 2028 team.
However, she noted that, whenever she chooses to leave gymnastics, she wants to do so on her own terms, rather than being forced to retire at a time that doesn’t feel right to her.
“I want it to be my choice when I’m done,” she said. “I don’t want the doctors to be like, ‘Hey, you can’t move on.'”
Biles added that, while she hasn’t decided whether the 2024 Paris Games were her last, she would be happy to end her career with that performance.
“I’m grateful that if this (Paris) was the end, that I got to choose my ending,” she explained.
When asked whether she would return to the sport in the hopes of securing a spot on Team USA for the 2028 Games, Biles conceded that she has left that door open.
“There’s more to it. … We’ll definitely see,” she shared.
