The Old Farmer’s Almanac Predicts a Truly White Christmas for Some Homeowners in 2025

If you’ve been dreaming of a white Christmas, you’re in luck. The forecast for many parts of the country looks snowy, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Of course, this could put a real wrench in any travel plans to see family and friends over the holidays, especially in four key regions of the country.

And even if snow isn’t in the forecast, most of the country is going to see wet weather over the holiday season, much like they are for Thanksgiving.

Christmas 2025 weather forecast? Let it snow!

Christmas week will be a mixed bag of weather conditions across the country. While some parts will enjoy clear skies and cool weather, others will see themselves bundling up tight against the elements.

Here’s where homeowners will see the most snow:

(Old Farmers Almanac )

Northeast

States like New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York have one of the best chances of seeing snow on Christmas day. The Almanac predicts very cold temperatures as well as snow showers throughout the week, so whether you’re flying or driving, take care.

Upper Midwest

Snow is also expected in this region, though earlier on in the week, making pre-Christmas travel trick. Still, the temps will be quite mild, before turning very cold by the holiday. Prepare for snow showers throughout the week.

Lower Lakes

Expect to see some very snowy roads in places like Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. The temperatures will start out cold and then proceed to get even colder the closer Christmas gets. These states have the best chance of a white Christmas, so make sure to bundle up.

Ohio Valley

Eastern parts of the region will see some snow showers, but nothing too impactful. The western areas will feel a chill, but actually remain sunny for the better part of the week.

Atlantic Corridor

Sunny skies and minimal precipitation are in the forecast for places like Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Still, showers are not out of the question; even snow showers might materialize, if the temperatures fall.

Appalachians

The Appalachians—places like Alabama and West Virginina— will see sunny skies in the North and showers in the South at the start of the week, before snow arrives closer to the holiday

Southeast

Smooth travel days lie ahead for those in places like Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. No snow in the forecast, and on top of that, some decent temperatures as well. Certainly no snow for these folks!

Deep South

The temps will be mild in the days leading up to Christmas, and the weather will be calm. If you can, head out early for your holiday travel, as when the days closer to the 25th creep in, so will the rain.

Heartland

Some of the best weather in the country will grace the Heartland this Christmas. Sunny skies, mild temperatures, and the smallest change of rain is in the forecast.

High Plains

While the temperature is forecasted to be quite warm, the chances of storms are also quite high. You’re looking more at rain than anything else, but still, Christmas is going to be a wet one.

Pacific Northwest

Storms and rain are expected in the northern Pacific Northwest prior to Christmas, but it will never get cold enough to turn into snow. If you’re traveling to the Southwest, you’ll have better conditions.

Alaska and Hawaii

Snow is expected across many areas of Alaska, while the panhandle is likely to see more rain than snow. The week will start off very cold, but temperatures will rise as you get closer to Chrismtas.

Hawaii, meanwhile, will be warm and sunny throughout the holiday week. Saved the best forecast for last!
